In 1998, the city of Chicago officially opened the Museum Campus Chicago, a 10-acre park overlooking the lake and bringing together the three major museums: the Field Museum of Natural History, the Shedd Aquarium and Adler Planetarium. Chicago Museum Campus was constructed in the southern section of Grant Park. Some of the museums and art galleries are:

Chicago has made significant contributions to popular culture. In the field of music, Chicago is known for its Chicago blues, Chicago soul, Jazz and Gospel music. It is also known as the birthplace of the House, whose history is connected with the development and adoption of techno music - Electronic Detroit. Hip-Hop scene in Chicago, is very influential, of which the major exponents are artists like Kanye West and Common.
Chicago, featuring the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, direct rivals its counterpart in New York. The opera company in town is the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
In 1967 the band was born "The Big Thing", this being the first to incorporate metals (such as saxophone, trumpet and trombone) within the rock genre. In 1969 they released their first album, now under the name Chicago Transit Authority, which just changed to "Chicago" at the end of that year. Born in Chicago in addition to what we know today as House, the club name comes from The Warehouse, where it appeared, all current variants of the House come from the primitive branch of the Chicago House House.
