The Chicago-O'Hare International Airport (IATA: ORD, ICAO: KORD, FAA LID: ORD), also known simply as O'Hare Airport or O'Hare is one of the major airports located in the northwest corner of Chicago, Illinois, USA, 27 kilometers (17 miles) northwest of downtown Chicago. It is the largest hub of United Airlines (whose headquarters are in downtown Chicago) and the second largest hub of American Airlines (after International Airport Dallas-Fort Worth). It is operated by the Aviation Department of the City of Chicago, in association with the regional authority.

In 2008, the airport had 881.566 aircraft operations, an average of 2.409 per day (64% commercial, 33% air taxi, 3% of general aviation and <1% military) .3 The is O'Hare International Airport second airport in the United States, behind Hartsfield-Jackson4 with 69,353,654 passengers passed through the airport in 2008, a change from 2007 to -8.96% .5 The O'Hare also has a strong international presence , flying to over 60 destinations abroad. O'Hare was ranked fourth in 2005 in the United States in terms of international airports behind only International Airport John F. New York Kennedy, Los Angeles International Airport and Miami International Airport, serving more foreign destinations.
O'Hare International Airport was voted "Best Airport in North America" for 10 years by readers of the American edition of Business Traveler Magazine (1998 - 2003) and Global Traveler Magazine (2004 - 2007). 6
Although O'Hare is Chicago's main airport, Midway International Airport, the second airport of the city, is located 10 kilometers (6 miles) from downtown Chicago, the main financial and business district.
